Competition procedure

The European Craft Beer Cup is an international awards for craft beer. Different beers from Central Europe and beyond will participate in 2024.

THE BEER CUP

The European Craft Beer Cup honors locally crafted beers that best satisfy the criteria concerned. It is a unique competition of its kind in Europe. The three best beers from each beer category are awarded a gold, silver, or bronze award. There is also an award for “Best in Show” based on the judges overall favorite beer in the competition.

BEER CUP STYLES

A prize is awarded for the three best beers in each category. These include: Pale Lager, Pale Ale, Sour Ale, IPA/DIPA, Wheat Beer, Porters and Stouts, Open category (any beer style not included in the categories above)

THE BEER CUP JUDGES

The judges are an independent collection of experienced beer experts, craft brewers and cicerones from around the world. The beers that have been sent in will be judged in a blind tasting.

AWARD CEREMONY & WINNERS’ NIGHT

The prizes are awarded to the winners of the European Craft Beer Cup and the Best in Show competition during a festive ceremony at the conclusion of the Central European Brewers Conference (CEBC) in Budapest which is open to the public and press.

ENTRY GUIDELINES

THE EXPERT TASTING PROCEDURE

The judging will take place on January 24th, 2024.
The judges also reserves the right not to award certain category prizes or all prizes in a category. The key criteria is beer quality.
The winners award ceremony will be held at the end of the CEBC on January 26th, 2024. 
Prize winners only will be published, lists of participants may be disclosed.
